Singapore Night Festival does a remarkable display of a multitude of shows to illuminate the Bras Basah, Bugis (BBB) Art precinct including at CHIJMES, National Museum and Funan Mall.
It succeeds in taking Art to the people. And its reach is incredibly heartwarming!
We at Shantha Ratii Initiatives (SRI) had the privilege to present Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam by my mentees, to an engrossed and curious audiences throughout our 4 shows.
From 6 to 60 yr olds were bombarding post performance questions endlessly making us surpass our allocated time! They had to turn people away too since it was an indoor event with limited space!
My satisfaction comes from their sense of interest and involvement. Each year it just gets better!
After all our Art / Dance has so many layers to it to unpeel!
The other activity SRI undertook was to unravel the mystery and charm of the Indian Saree!
We had a dedicated team of ladies to tie the saree and managed to do for about 100 enthusiasts! No mean task that!
We had a number of men who tried it too! Both dhotis n Sarees! Some of them looked like Roman warriors to me!
All in all they were fun-filled evenings with the cross-cultural sharings. What better way to build respect and understanding of other cultures?!????
