Gyani Arts, a leading gallery in Singapore celebrated their 20th anniversary with a spectacular array of paintings by 16 esteemed artistes to celebrate the life and works of Frida Kahlo the extraordinary painter from Mexico. The Mexican Ambassador’s speech on her life was indeed a passionate account.
I personally first encountered her works in New York where I was then living, at The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and Metropolitan Museum. I was sold!
Her self-portraits that portray colourful elements of Mexican folk culture through her life which was riddled with pain & sorrow!
I wish Gyana and Vidhya the curator many such initiatives to inspire enthusiast and connoisseur alike and add panache to the Singapore artistic scene!
